How to Choose a Crypto PR Agency: 12 Questions to Ask First

By Oddrix · · 3 min read

Crypto PR agencies range from experienced specialists to resellers who forward your release to a list and send you a screenshot. These questions help you tell them apart before you pay.

Transparency

1. Which publications, exactly? Ask for the list of destinations for your package before you pay. "Top-tier media" isn't a list.

2. Which of those are confirmed? An agency may have direct agreements with some outlets and buy others through intermediaries. Both can be fine, but you should know which publications are confirmed for your campaign and which are only targets.

3. How will each placement be labelled? Sponsored, press release or editorial. An agency that hides labelling is setting you up for disappointment.

4. Where do the audience numbers come from? Monthly visitor claims should cite a source and a date.

Guarantees and red flags

5. What do they guarantee? Reasonable: delivery of the agreed placements where confirmed, a report and live links. Unreasonable: price increases, exchange listings, investors, rankings or "viral" results.

6. Will they publish anything? A good agency will refuse misleading investment claims, anonymous-team rug-pull patterns and copied whitepapers. If an agency accepts everything, its placements are worth less, because publishers learn which agencies send them poor content.

7. Do they offer bots, fake followers or "engagement"? If so, walk away.

Process

8. Who writes or edits the release? Editorial help is valuable, especially for non-native English speakers and technical projects.

9. What happens if a publisher declines? There should be a stated replacement or refund rule.

10. What are the timelines? Most placements go live within days. High-profile outlets can take longer. Get an estimated window in writing.

Payment and reporting

11. How do you pay, and what are the refund terms? Crypto payment is common in this industry. Check that you pay the exact amount quoted, that the payment address is published on the agency's own site, and that refund conditions are written down.

12. What does the report include? Live URLs that have been checked, publication dates and labels. Traffic figures only if the publisher supplied them.

A quick scoring method

Give each question a pass or fail. Any fail on 1, 5 or 7 should end the conversation. Several fails on the others means you'll be paying for uncertainty.

Oddrix Web3 PR publishes its packages and prices in USD, shows every publication's status in its publication directory, and confirms the publication list with you before payment.
